Parkinson’s Disease (PD)

Parkinson’s Disease is a common progressive neurological condition. Symptoms may include:

  • Tremor
  • Bradykinesia
  • Rigid muscles
  • Impaired posture and balance
  • Speech changes
  • Writing changes

The good news is that there is an excellent evidence base for Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology for improving outcomes for people living with PD. We offer PD specific movement classes and individualized therapy.  Most of our therapists are trained in PD Warrior and use principles from PD warrior and other PD specific programs to tailor a group session that meets the needs of the individuals.

PD therapy sessions often include:

  • Dual tasking practice to train function and challenge cognition.
  • Balance and agility training within the context of your daily life and physical challenges that you may face.
  • Resistance and cardiovascular training to build strength and capacity to improve daily independence.
