Cerebral Palsy (CP)

Cerebral palsy is an umbrella term for a group of conditions that affect movement and posture. It is caused by damage that occurs to the developing brain.

There is a wide spectrum of how CP affects individuals and at Breaking Boundaries our Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists like to work with the individual to address their specific goals.

Therapy sessions may include:

  • Goal-directed and task-specific training in a fun and adaptive environment.
  • Cardiovascular and strength capacity building to maintain and improve health and wellbeing.
  • Spasticity assessment, management and botox recommendations.
  • Weight bearing, treadmill and body weight supported treadmill training.
  • Assistive technology recommendations e.g., standing frames and mobility aids.
  • Recreational activities including adaptive cycling, stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking.
